The average parents spend about $300 on everything from candy to costumes for Halloween. Taking a BradsDeals approach, you could cut about a 1/3 of that, saving $100 and making for a cheap halloween.
Let’s look at ways you can save this Halloween…
Candy: For parties or gifts, something like a Halloween Mug Gift Basket, which is normally $31.67, drops to $22.10 with shipping, may come in handy. For bulk candy, you might look at Amazon where you can find 6 Bags of Fun Size Kit Kat Bars for $2.08/bag, and if you buy 2 of them you get free shipping as a bonus.
Entertainment: Whether it’s a night in with a scary movie, or a night out at a haunted house, there is money to be saved. Discovery.com is currently offering 75% off Halloween DVD’s, and Groupon regularly has deals as much as half off the entry fee of a haunted house.
Decorations: Pottery Barn has classic and tasteful decorations that are excellent for fall. Pottery Barn has decreased their Rustic Metal Pumpkinto $64.99. Or if you’re looking for a Pumpkin candle, Pottery barn has recently dropped it’s price from $29 to just $6. This is a fantastic decoration to either place inside the home or to leave on the doorstep to invite trick-or-treaters to stop by.
Houseware:Throwing a Halloween party can be expensive, but there are online deals on Halloween-themed housewares that can make it more affordable. Recently Boscov’s reduced a set of three Halloween ceramic bowls from $23.99 to $11.99. Lillian Vernon also decreased the price of a skeleton wine glass from $14.98 to $7.49, plus add in 15% off via code “001750000″ and it drops to $6.37. Online deals such as these make it easy, affordable, and fun to throw a Halloween party.
Costumes: Finally, what Halloween is all about…the costumes. BuyCostumes.com and CostumeCraze.com are two websites that focus primarily on Halloween items, however there are other sites like Linens N’ Things, that also sell costumes during this time of year, and offer coupons to make the prices even more appealing. This year, Linens N’ Things is offering 20% off all their costumes with coupon code COSTUMES2010. BuyCostumes, however, takes 35% off Halloween costumes including TV and Movie Characters. Better yet, you can take an additional 10% off orders of $40 or more via code “vamp10″ or you can also use code “bogo20″ to take 20% off one costume when you buy another.
With all this in mind, there are plenty of ways to save this Halloween without cutting back on what might be your kids’ favorite night.
