Are You a Thrifty College Student? We Want to Give You a Scholarship!

Let's face it - college is expensive and the costs are only going up. Too bad there's no such thing as a coupon code for 25% off tuition, right? If there was, we would definitely list it.

With tuition rising so much from year to year, paying for school can be tough to say the least. That's why we're excited to announce our first ever college scholarship contest, which will distribute $10,000 in scholarships to students who are demonstrating remarkable frugality.  Five finalists will receive a $2,000 scholarship for the 2012-2013 school year.

You can check out complete details, including the scholarship application, eligibility requirements, and deadlines at the Shop Smart Scholarship Competition page.

P.S. College students on a limited budget should also check out Stores with Student Discounts to save money at the places you shop every day.

I’m over 50, looking to go to college to get an LPN. I’m currently on disability and live on less than700.00 per month. College seems out of reach. Can you suggest any places to look for scholarships that I may qualify for? Thanks Brad for your great site. I’ve saved a lot using it

Barbara – IDK what state you are in but let me give you a little advice. For my own reasons I just completed my LPN and I don’t regret it one bit but for just a few more classes and one extra semester in the nsg program you can have your RN and make double your income you would receive as an LPN. Many hospitals will pay your loans back and with the low income you have monthly you can get scholarships easily. Visit the guidance counselor through the school you are wanting to attend and they can help you with scholarship applications.
