As an avid (some might say obsessive) “pinner” and online shopper, I squealed with excitement when I got an email from Pinterest notifying me that a top I had pinned to my fashion board a few weeks ago was currently on sale. Awesome! So instead of daydreaming about those amazing, budget-blowing items, Pinterest will send an email straight to your inbox when they are available at a lower price.
As a fairly new Pinterest feature that just rolled out in August, it’s still slowly being unveiled to users, but as you continue to pin your little heart out, expect to start seeing email notifications whenever there’s a price drop on one of your coveted items. And don’t worry about your inbox being flooded; Pinterest will try to aggregate multiple price drop notifications into one email.
You shouldn’t have to do anything to receive these notifications since it’s a default setting, but if you want to check or modify your email settings, here’s how:
• Sign in to your Pinterest account and click on settings
• Look for the “other kinds of emails you can get” section toward the bottom of the page and select “yes” for getting emails when there are price changes for pins you add
This notification feature will help transform Pinterest into a smart shopping tool for consumers instead of being a wishlist of expensive stuff you can’t afford…or something you mindlessly do when you’re laying around in your pajamas on a Friday night watching reruns of Top Chef. Either way, we are totally loving this new function!
