Since many senior discounts are not advertised to the public, our advice to men and women over 55 is to ALWAYS ask a sales associate if that store provides a senior discount. Also, please note that some senior discounts vary by region. That way, you can be sure to get the most bang for your buck.

Kohls just changed their age qualification to *60*. no longer 62
Thanks for the heads up on that, Kris. We will update our blog to give the correct age to our readers
When did Kohl’s change the age from 55? In Atlanta on Wednesday it is/was age 55 – 15% off.
It’s the same in Toledo, Oh. 55 /15% off on special days.
Thanks so much for this list. It kills me to see how many discounts that Ive been missing though lol.
You’re welcome Dianne! Enjoy saving that moola from now on!
DO YOU HAVE TO ASK OR APPLY FOR A SENIOR CARD AT EACH PLACE OF BUSINESS?
THERE SHOULD BE ONE CENTRAL PLACE TO GET A DISCOUNT CARD WITH ALL THE PLACES LISTED THAT OFFER THE DISCOUNTS.
Hey Beverly, you do not need to apply for a senior card for these discounts, all you need to do is tell the sales associate or waiter your age to get the discount! However, if you have an AARP card, you can show that to various stores and restaurants to get a discount. Hope this helps!
Is there any easy way to print this? This is an awesome list and I agree with Dianne on wishing I would have known about this before! Better late then never though!
Hey Shelly, that’s a great idea! We are currently figuring out a way to provide a printable version to our readers. Enjoy!
Hey Shelly, just an update that we have a printable version available for you now! Enjoy, and thanks again for the great idea! We hope our readers will make good use of this list
how do we access the printable version
Hey Cathy, just click on the “108 Stores with Senior Discounts” PDF link at the bottom of our post, then click on print in your browser. That should work out for you, but let us know if you need any help!
Thanks for the printable version. It’s great.
Thank you! I am printing it out now. Can’t wait to “test” some of these out!
@Pat: The PDF is at the end of the list, not the end of the comments.
108 Stores with Senior Discounts (PDF, 141 KB)
Kroger offers 5% on Wenesday, not 10%…..55+
Kroger in Dallas and Houston, Texas (perhaps other cities) gives 10% any time on their store brand. You need to get a Plus Card – senior version.
Caitlin,
The list of retail outlets offering Senior Discounts is a terrific idea. I did not know that I qualify for many discounts by simply being 55. Finally turning 60 has its advantages. Can you include golf courses on the list?
Thanks for great information that saves me $$$$$$.
Pat
Our local Hy-Vee in Osage Beach, MO does NOT offer a senior discount.
I called our 3 area Kmart stores – and they do not give offer a senior discount.
I just got back from Burger King, before reading this. They only give a senior discount on beverages-no food. Sylvania,(Toledo area), Ohio
I checked with my Publix grocery store today in Jacksonville, FL and they didn’t know anything about a senior discount.
Our Publix store in Atlanta gives a 5% discount to seniors 62+ on Wednesday’s.
Discount for Publix is only in Atlanta area
The senior discount for Publix applicable to the Atlanta market is 5% on Wednesdays for those 60+. While previously this seemed to be word of mouth only, lately they’ve been putting a message to this affect in a little box on their flyers. I’ve seen elsewhere this is not applicable to Publix in the Florida market.
That is quite a list~!!!! Thank you so much! =)
You’re welcome Jade! Glad to share these savings with you! If you find any others that aren’t on our list, be sure to share them with us
Enjoy!
Where the heck is the PDF link?
I’ve looked everywhere & can’t find it at the bottom of any page.
my Vetrinarian gives a 10% discount to seniors, also our Bashas’ store does on Tuesdays. It never hurts to check with the owner/manager at ‘ANY’ business that you frequent, just to see if they offer any senior discount in your area. PS I am not even a senior yet, but I know these for my Mom.
I’ve tried 2 stores on the list; publix (NPR,Fl.) and Chilis rest. and NEITHER GIVE DISCOUNTS TO SENIORS…..
In the Washington DC area, at least, the Harris-Teeter senior discount is on Thursday, not Tuesday.
I was told at Great Clips that the senior discount started at 65
I am a Regal Movie Manager. We have an AARP special a small soda and popcorn for $5.50 a $5.00 savings. If you want more than one special you need each paid separately and have your card swiped each time.
I think the creator of the list needs to verify all the listing
just called big lots. manager said she never heard of a 10% discount for seniors. can you verify if they do or do not give this discount?
Yes Big Lots offered it nationally. My son’s Girlfriend has worked there for year and they keep teasing me that I’m not quite old enough for the discount yet. If you go to Big Lots web site, it is listed on there as well
Our Hannibal Wendy’s is a franchise and used to offer 10%. Now they only give a kid size drink. Got to watch the franchises they can and do water the chili that used to be the best and do not keep their drinks up to standard percentage wise. The mix at our local is way off and I usually opt for the Mr Pibb instead of the watered down coke.
@ Cindy I think the list is great. I am sure that regionally the stores differ. It would be tough to check nation wide. Just ask at your stores.
Hey Pat, you present a great point about these senior discounts. Offers do vary based on location, so shoppers should always ask a sales clerk about the senior discount. We will add this information to our blog to further clarify this for other readers! Hope this discounts are saving you some cash
Food Lion in Jacksonville, FL was not aware of senior discount, is this for a certain area or state?
I told my Mom about the Kmart discount but when she asked them about it, they said that they haven’t had a senior discount in years. I don’t know where you got the info that they did but the Kmart in Philly insists that they don’t.
Melanie, we are sorry to hear that your Kmart does not offer a senior discount. However, some discounts do vary by region. Also, try asking if they have specific senior discount days. Some stores only offer their discount on certain days of the week or month. I hope this helps you out! In the meantime, try taking advantage of other discounts from our list
even if they did offer a discount (which they said they never did at our local one) it would not do any good now as the store is closing…good-bye, K-mart and blue light specials!
Hi,
FYI…ShopRite also gives a senior discount, but I believe it’s only on Tuesdays.
Thanks for the heads up Jane! We’ll make sure to add that store to our list.
Do you have any idea how it works? We called one store and they said they did not have it. I know that they are individually owned and operated so maybe that store is not in the program.
Selvester
Essex County, NJ
[...] very popular places to retire, I thought I’d share a list of of stores with Senior discounts, available here. Many are for 5 -10% off, but there are a few that are better. For example: The Salvation Army [...]
This sounds good but how do I get these discounts? Do I need a card? Let me know. Thanks.
Kohls in my area only offers the 15% Senior Discount on Wednesdays. AMC Theatres only offers a senior admission price on Tuesdays. Not all Dunkin’ Donuts will offer a Senior Discount; most of them are individually owned and they just refuse to offfer it – the ones that do only apply it to coffee. Taco Bells in this area have NEVER failed to charge me for my drink and to state that they did not have a senior discount. If you make airline reservations online, be sure it’s through a website that offers the option of showing that you want a senior fare; there ARE a few. If you call an airline, there’s usually a service charge on your reservation.
The Taco Bell by where I work gives a free drink in Orlando, Fl
Wow…more work finding out if you can get a discount than the .50 cents is worth! On a lg. order it might help, but I don’t want to go someplace I rarely frequent, in order to get a discount that they don’t honor or that doesn’t exist! Is there a way to verify these and post state lists? Now THAT might help :O)
For the places you frequent you should be able to visit the companies website and see what it says on there or contact their offices and have them reply by email so you have something you can print out.
in the midwest, Fannie May Candy Stores give a 15% discount on Wednesdays, 55 and older.
Chick-Fil-A does not offer senior discounts in Virginia
Is there an app for this? Anyway to put on iphone?
If there sis a way to print this, I haven’t been able to see it on this site. I would love to print it out and keep it for everyday use.
Just click on where it say 108 Senior Discounts (PDF) and it will load the PDF file and you can print it from there – I just did.
In Auburn, CA Carl’s Jr. offers Seniors a 10% discount – just ask for it!
You have to be realistic, and ask yourself when at the store, do you have a senior discount, if they don’t perhaps you could tell them that their store is listed on a web site that says that they do…take your printed list with you so they can see it…perhaps it will change their minds. Never knew about chilies. I will mention it next time I am in…go every few months there.
Food is good, but would taste better if it cost less.
Thank you all for such a nice web site.
My sister in Phoenix told me about you.
Spread the word.
Ann in Michigan
In Southeastern NC, Harris Teeter’s 60+ discount is not on Thursdays.
Typo…..discount is NOW on Thursdays

In South Carolina our FATZ restaurants have an early bird senior menu on Tuesday evenings.
Baker’s Square, a restaurant (& pies) in the Midwest gives a 10% discount upon asking for it.
baker’s Square is a chain.
I live in Melbourne Florida. I just checked with the Local Publix Store and the management told me that there are no Senior discounts at Publix in Florida. One said there are discounts in Tenn. & Alabama.

The printable PDf file is ABOVE all the comments, and BELOW all the discounts. Look for the icon. I found it. Also, people it’s been said many times… CHECK YOUR AREA to see if these apply. Thank Caitlin for gathering the info and Move On! Not every employee at every store knows about the discounts and some areas choose not to honor it. But there are alot more here than I ever knew about, so THANK YOU!!
you forgot Huddle House. offers 10% senior discount (60+) everyday. not applicable with coupons or other specials.
Thanks for the info Irene! We’ll be sure to add this discount to our list!
ruby’s restaurant gives over 55 discount. not sure of the %
Thanks Dan! We’ll look into this discount!
Concerning those Senior Discounts, I sent the list to my wife who works for a Senior support organization and she attempted to validate a couple of the entries, Arby’s and Krispy Kreme. Both responded they do not offer any Senior discounts, so my wife concluded the list was not reliable?? We live in southeast Virginia. Do they allow regional differences for these Corporate chain restaurants?
Joe, we’re sorry that the Krispy Kreme and Arby’s discounts didn’t work out for you. However, senior discounts DO vary by location and region. We put these restaurants on the list so that those in certain regions could take advantage of their discounts. Even though these couple places might not work for where you live, always check with your server or store clerk if they offer a discount. Asking never hurts
Carl’s Jr offers a 10% discount on any thing on the menu
[...] After the great response we’ve gotten in the comments from all of you, we’ve updated our lists and made them a little more user-friendly. Thanks again to everyone for all the helpful tips.
