Attention all voters! Whether you lean red or blue (or purple, green or yellow for that matter), we've rounded up some great Election Day freebies for you.
Need a ride to the polls tomorrow? My favorite taxi service, Uber, is teaming up with Rock the Vote to offer free "Freedom Rides" to the polls for new customers.
Here's how you can take advantage of this deal:
If you're an existing customer, Uber has deals for you too, depending on your city. Chicagoans using promo code VOTECHI between 6am and 7pm on 11/6 will score up to $20.12 off of their fare. Just note that your trip must begin or end at a polling place for the deal to apply. Uber clients in Philadelphia, San Diego, Los Angeles and Atlanta can win a free ride up to $50 for submitting the most creative "I Voted" tweet in their city. More details on the Twitter contest are available at Uber's blog, and deals for additional cities are likely as details are still emerging.
If you've never used Uber before, you should definitely give it a try. Fares are the same as your city's usual taxi rates, and a 20% gratuity is automatically included. Since the service has your credit card info on file, no money changes hands in the cab, and requesting a taxi means never needing to hail one - particularly handy when the weather is bad or unoccupied taxis are just scarce.
Now that Uber's taken you to the polls and you've cast your ballot, slap that "I Voted" sticker on your lapel and make a stop at Einstein Bros Bagels. Show your sticker to the cashier to score a free bagel and shmear. Bask in the Americanness of it all as you enjoy your post-election treat.
A free ride and a free bagel, just for exercising your right to vote. Finally, an election promise both sides can appreciate!
