Restaurant.com is now taking 80% off dining certificates via code DINNER through 1/16. This drops the price of a $25 gift certificate, normally $10, to $2, or a $25 gift card that is regularly $15, to $3. They have a large selection of participating restaurants nationwide (more than 18,000), and you can search by zip code or neighborhood. Be sure to read the fine print for each restaurant, because they all set their own spend thresholds and exclusions such as alcoholic beverages, weekends, or holidays. (Instructions »)

Lashields2004 — Best advice: make sure you Yelp any restaurant, especially if you are unfamiliar with them BEFORE you buy your Restaurant.com certificate... Some of the restaurants out there should just close down, or be closed down... Just recently, I had the worst experience, and thanks to my certificate, I paid a fortune for it. If they had not already had my certificate in hand, I would have just left and ripped up the certificate....but, I didnt know how obligated that certificate made me, since it is linked to my name... So toatally disappointed. Remember, if it sounds like too good of a deal, it probably is...

cindy — There shouldn't be a certain amount you have to buy, if you buy a 100.00 card you have to spend 200.00 on food,, plus they take gratuity right off the bat,, no thanks

Mel — I totally agree with you Cindy, in the end you're not saving when they require you to spend double the face value of the certificate. People will wind up actually spending MORE money than if they had just gone to the restaurant without the certificate but ultimately that's the goal of the establishment. There are a few gems, like Seven Spring in NYC that allow you to use certificate toward alcohol/beverages and only require you to purchase 1 food item.

Bella — Wish I could have seen the terrible fine print. I agree with Mel and Cindy. I purchases a $2 certificate worth $25 for Mi luna, a place here in town I have always wanted to try. It stated AFTER i purchased it, that I had to spend a minimum of $45.00 + 18% gratuity (which is $8.10 IF i keep my bill at exactly $45.00) - $25.00 cert. = $28.10... total rip, maybe I will gift it to someone.Luckily I only paid $2.00, but that will be the last $2.00 restaurants.com gets from me.

Bella, you paid $2 to save $25 (net savings $23). That's a pretty good investment In the scenario you describe, you're paying $28 + $2 while everyone else at the restaurant is paying $53. How are *you* the one getting ripped off?

Shelleyg1 — Each restaurants policy is there to see BEFORE you purchase the certificate. We buy these all the time and they are wonderful savings. We just buy the ones that make sense for us For example: If it says must spend $50 and our bill wouldn't come to $50 normally for the 2 of us then we would not purchase that one because that is not a savings for us.It's all just common sense. If you purchased a $25 certificate for $2 it's like having a $23 coupon to take off the total of your check.

Bufi44 — What an amazing offer! Even with having to buy $35-45 worth of food, the first $25 is almost free. I bought 2 of the offers to restaurants I pass all the time and never had the nerve to try (I'm new to the area). The 3rd one is to a restaurant I love and eat at all the time. It was $4 instead of $2 but still a great bargain. Thanks Brad.

Andrejka82 — Great deal, but will not be investing in. All the places it list for Colorado Springs, suck to even eat at, I wish restaurants.com would do better deals with other restaurants here in the area. :(
