  Through 9/3, the American Express Starwood Card, one of my go-to cards, is now offering 30,000 Starpoints via this link, 5,000 more than normal. You'll get 10,000 bonus points after using it once, then another 20,000 bonus after spending $5,000 within six months, plus 1 point per $1 spent, so you'll actually have 35,000 total in your account. Starpoints can be very valuable and are worth much more than $0.01 each. They can be attractively redeemed at Starwood family hotels (Westin, Sheraton, St. Regis, etc.) and can be easily transferred at a 1.25:1 ratio to most major airlines (20,000 Starpoints = 25,000 miles).
