Amazon has slashed $70 off the price of the popular Kindle, knocking it from $259 to $189, likely in response to Barnes & Noble's Nook being cut to as low as $149, or iPad's "3 Million Sold" success, or speculation of a new soon-to-be-released black Kindle. I own one and love it, though the Kindle app on the iPad is slightly better. It weighs only 10.2 ounces, is about as thick as a magazine and downloads one of the 350,000 books from Amazon's Kindle Store (many are only $9.99 each) in less than 60 seconds. Shipping is free and there's no sales tax (except KS, KY, ND, NY, WA). Also of note: customers who purchased a Kindle in the past 30 days are eligible to receive the price difference as a credit.
