Swampfox28 — GREAT deal!!! I don't believe it does reception by itself; we hook ours up to the coaxial cable (no cable card b/c we don't have digital cable). You can get a lifetime subscription OR pay monthly - but it will change your life. We don't watch a LOT of TV, but what we DO like or would like to see is magically ready for US whenever we want to see it; no more being a slave to TV schedules! :o)

1tony165 — I love this Brad..Thanks..will check out comments on it but I just learned when I changed to FIOS this past month(this is an OPTICAL connection , cleaner & clearer), that HD shows, take allot more room on your DVR, then regular shows not in HD!.... Time Warner, NEVER said one word and it is only 30 hours on TW's DVR box and I was not using it,so got rid of it...many shows are on demand now in HD on FIOS...but I love to tape my movies and TCM channel is the BEST! Havemercy5565 — How does this work with FIOS? I mean don't you have to have the verizon box to be able to view FIOS stations? I'm confused. I have had over 4 DVR boxes from Verizon in the last 6 months, the recorder always locks up and you have to unplug to reset, very frustrating. When I returned the boxes yesterday the mail lady told me that they receive at least 5 of the verizon DVR boxes a day!

1tony165 — DVR box is like any other recording device ...like VCR tape machine we used to use, you STILL need the source of the input...but this is digital, no TAPES to fool around with and holds 150 hours of shows IN HD! and you must have some kind of a connection for it to work, so I have Fios, some people stream off their computers..but I have ENOUGH wiring happening in this one room studio in NYC.. lizard — Tivo Wireless Network Adapter - On this same website it allows you to get the TIVO box, but the website only lets you get the wireless adapter with store pick up. Will buy wireless adapter on Amazaon TVAG0100, hope this is correct, no one answered my question.

Jamen5 — you can use the TiVo box with a regular antenna or with cable cards. you don't need a cable box. This doesn't not work with DirecTv or any satellite. The TiVo wireless adapter does work with the TiVo dvr. That allows you to download movies through the internet from amazon, blockbluster or netflix. dump your cable

1tony165 — Jamen..what do you use for internet connection and phone(I don't have a cell)...all three are part of my cable & also got rid of the DVR box when I switched over to Fios, was not using it but I would with Tivo...saw a lifetime price of less than $400(that is not counting the price of the box)..it's so worth it Thanks, TONY(NYC)...would LOVE to get rid of these money eaters

Tim — Not cool... Just received my box in the mail and it appears that the Electronics-Expo "deal" is pretty much the same that TIVO is running on their site. They lower the upfront price of the box to $290-something then charge more per month for service. TIVO is having me sign up for a one year contract at $19.99/month! Electronics-Expo also changed their product page to be in line with the TIVO corporate deal. This is going right back on Monday unless the company resolves this.

lizard — Did the company take it back???, How did that go? I also received my box and the next day TIVO changed their ad. Planning on making this call today. I rather do it with TIVO direct as they offer better service if box etc.. gives problems and better deal getting it through them.

Tim — Nobody wants to take responsibility for the issue. Electronics-Expo claims they sold me the box outright and they have nothing to do with rates. TIVO is telling me that no matter who I buy the box from, if it's a cheaper rate than normal, I automatically have to pay the high monthly rate. This is not ok. I think it's mostly TIVO's fault so far but it's hard to tell.

Karen — I think when you made the online purchase of the box may be a factor. I believe TIVO announced the pricing structure and the XL box pricing on Sunday, 10/14. If you bought it before that date, I would call TIVO back and ask to speak to a supervisor and explain that when you made your purchase based on the information available to you at the time and that this whole experience says something negative about TIVO's customer service.

Tim — I faxed over my receipt from Electronics Expo and TIVO honored the $12.99/mo rate. I just prepaid for a year to minimize the chance of having to talk to their customer service this year :)
