You should think about signing up for the American Express Starwood Credit Card in advance of holiday gift-buying. It's my favorite card for many reasons. Why? The two biggest are because you get an extra year warranty on things you buy using it. My flat-screen TV broke after 23 months; I had a one-year warranty but AmEx extended it to two and replaced the TV for free, saving me a ton. Also, you can earn up to 25,000 free Starpoints (see how valuable they are). Also, it's free for the first year (normally $65) and has a low 2.9% introductory APR for 6 months. Plus, there are many AmEx Starwood benefits.
