There are many cash back cards out there, but we think these ones are the best on the market. Here are our picks for the best cash back credit cards of 2020.
The Best Cash Back Credit Cards of 2020
Alliant Cashback Visa Signature Card – 3% Cash Back First Year
This credit card has the best pure cash back in the industry for its first year- 3% cash back! After the first year, the cash back drops to 2.5% cash back, which is still the best offer currently on the market. The annual fee of $99 is waived for the first year, and there are no foreign transaction fees.
Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express: 6% Cash Back on Groceries
The Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express offers a $250 statement credit after you spend $1,000 in purchases within the first 3 months. You’ll also earn 6% cash back on groceries and select U.S. streaming subscriptions. Earn 3% cash back on transit including taxis/rideshare, parking, tolls, trains, buses and more. Get 3% cash back at U.S. gas stations, and 1% cash back on other purchases.
Citi® Double Cash Card – 1% Cash Back, plus 1% cash back when you pay your bill
The Citi® Double Cash Card is another strong cash back card. You’ll earn 1% cash back on every purchase, plus an additional 1% cash back for every dollar spent when you pay your bill. Additionally, this card has a 0% APR period of 18 months for balance transfers, but keep in mind those transfers do not earn cash back rewards. If you’re ever late on a payment, there’s a one-time waiver of the late fee. All cash back spending is unlimited, and there is no annual fee.

Those with a Fidelity trading account can earn 2% unlimited cash back on every purchase when they transfer their cash back into their account. Once it’s in there, you can transfer it into your regular checking account, or leave it if you wish. There’s also no annual fee on the card, and it comes with standard Visa Signature benefits, like lost luggage protection, auto collision damage waiver, and more. This is the best no-hassle card on the market for everyday cash back.
Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card Highlights
Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card: 1.5% Cash Back
The Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card earns 1.5% cashback on every purchase. There’s a one-time $200 cash bonus after you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening, which can cover all or part of the 3% balance transfer fee. There’s a 0% intro APR on balance transfers for 15 months; 14.99% – 24.99% variable APR after that; 3% fee on the amounts transferred within the first 15 months. Chase Freedom Unlimited Card – 1.5% cash back
Similar to its sister card highlighted above, the Chase Freedom Unlimited Card offers cash back- 1.5% cash back on every purchase, but new to the card is the ability to earn 5% back on all travel purchased through Chase, 3% on dining at restaurants and drugstores, and 1.5% on all other purchases. In addition, earn 5% cash back on grocery store purchases (not including Target or Walmart purchases) on up to $12,000 spent in the first year. There’s no annual fee.

Chase Freedom Flex℠ Card – 5% cash back in rotating categories
The Chase Freedom Flex℠ Card is featured on quite a few of our “best of” lists, and that’s because it features a rotating 5% cashback on a rotating set of quarterly categories. In the past, we’ve seen 5% cash back on gas purchases, movie tickets, Amazon.com, and more. Keep in mind, this 5% cash back is limited to $1,500 per quarter; after that, it drops to just 1% cash back per dollar. You’ll also receive 5% on travel purchased through Chase, 3% on dining at restaurants and drugstores, and 1% on all other purchases and a $200 sign-up bonus for $500 in purchases in the first three months.
If you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred or Reserve Card, you could increase your bonus by transferring your cash back into Ultimate Rewards points at a 1 cent per point ratio, which you can use for transferring to travel partners like Hyatt and United.
