There is no way we can ever properly thank members of the US Military for all that they have done. They are certainly not paid enough for their work and their great sacrifice. Iraq and Afghanistan have been particularly tough and stressful for members of the military, their families and loved ones.
We have found 160 195 199 over 200 stores and services doing their part to make life easier by offering discounts to active, reserve, and retired members of the US Military and their immediate family members. Please help spread the word via Facebook, Twitter and Email to those you know in the military about this resource. If you have additional suggestions please comment below and they’ll be added on an ongoing basis. For veterans of Iraq or Afghanistan, please check out IAVA. Members there are offered vouchers to many retail stores, such as JC Penney.
Two important caveats. First, some stores offer discounts only at the owner’s discretion and other discounts vary by state. Second, many stores that give a military discount don’t advertise it. It is always worth asking a store whether they have one or not and to have your military ID on you.

What is the name of your place?
Dick’s Sporting Goods has DONE AWAY with their military discount. Therefore, my husband, who retired after 20 years of honored service, and I have decided to spend our money elsewhere and have let the company know this. Very disappointing to think that a store would stop honoring the very men and women who have allowed them to have the freedom to have a business such as theirs.
Good to know! I will take my business elsewhere.
Dave, what is your website?
Click on his name and the website will come up
Well so far DICK’S and FOREVER 21 do not offer military discount as it states on your site. This is very humiliating when I’m standing at the counter trying to explain how several sites state this, but it’s not true according to the store manager. This is in upstate NY. How embarrassing to walk away denied!!!!!
I lived upstate NY for awhile after moving from a more military area and was used to getting the discounts at Forever 21. They swore to me in NY that there was no such thing. I too was embarrassed. I called their corporate. THEY DO have it. Most managers don’t know because they haven’t seen it and don’t know how to do it. So they just assumed it wasn’t true and didn’t try. I moved back down south to a different area that is military and again I get the discount. It’s not you.. Don’t be embarrassed.
READ THE ENTIRE ARTICLE!!! It very clearly states: First, some stores offer discounts only at the owner’s discretion and other discounts vary by state
Read things completely before casting blame that is not due!
Libby-
You feel so free to express your opinion without worry of your (in my opinion: vicious) words landing you in prison. In fact, you can say WHATEVER judemental and unneeded piece of commentary you choose. May I remind you this right, the 1st ammendment, is afforded to us care of selfless service men and women dying for that liberty; Kind of makes you’re ranting, which attacks one-such service-person, seem ironic and ignorant.
*please remember that supporting our soldiers doesn’t require agreeing with the concept of war. Thank you to those who serve or did serve the people, and our UNITED country.
Michelle
If you think Libby’s statement was vicious, might I suggest getting off the internet? There was nothing in her statement that was even insulting, much less “vicious” as you would say. Obviously people aren’t reading the article fully if they’re crying about not being able to get a military discount. Also I don’t understand the mentality of feeling entitled to a discount. Yes my husband is in the military, no I don’t feel like ANYONE owes us ANYTHING.
Though I’d be embarrassed too if I were to argue that “several sites” claim their stores gives a military discount, especially if none of those “several sites” are the store’s own page. A discount is a privilege, NOT a right, so to argue like it is is just silly.
Why feel humiliated??? The article says each state/area is not the same. Just show your ID and ask. They can say Yes or No. The discount isn’t our “right,” it’s a “Thank You.”
…sometimes some companies do away with discounts…oh well…and really, who in the military actually shops at FOREVER 21? Come on…
Craig- many male members of the military are married and some may even have teenage daughters not to mention the fact that their are women in the military who may shop at forever 21 too
There are plenty of people in the military who shop at forever21…I’m in the military and shop there…remember …there are women in the military!!!!
Yes, women are in fact in the military AND can drive! Crazy times, eh?! LOL!
And some of us who drive don’t even have to have their HUSBANDS permission!!!!
Went to Bass Pro today and got the 10% off! Thanks for the info.

Do you know any sites or stores that offer this discount to Government Employees such as Fire Fighters or Police Officers? They too give of their lives everyday here at home, away from their families, and making the ultimate sacrifice for less pay and no retirement benefits every day!
Firefighters, EMT workers, police officers etc. Ask for a discount. I have found that many stores extend the discounts to federal employees and emergency workers. Sorry I don’t have a list compiled at this time.
Most Fire Fighter and Officers make way more than the military due to their unions. They also have WAY better pensions. You realize most military retirements are less than $2,000 a month, while most fire fighter/officer retiremens are well over 60K a year.
Totally true!!
You have it partially true, military retirement is usually less than $2000 per month…for the E-6 and below. Officers, well that a whole different story depending on how many years they served over the magical “20″. Police, Firefighters and even Correctional Officers (prison guards)pay into their own retirement from day one. I am retired Military (24 yrs) and soon will retire from Dept of Corrections (25yrs.) Nearly $600 a month is taken from my paycheck every month and put into a retirement fund. I would have rather had a choice and put the money into my own IRA. No choice is given to us. The longer a person works for Corrections, the more money they take for the retirement fund. So it isn’t just “given to us”! We pay into our own retirement.
I am an EMT I only make $12 and hour and with no benefits so not every emergency worker has it good. Plus military should have the highest pay then I personally believe EMTs next because we are basically sent to every call
David,
I’m not sure what that has to do with getting a discount. It’s offered, in most cases, to those who put their life on the line so that we might continue to enjoy ours. There’s no income requirement. Certainly, if your retirement is $60K/yr vs $2K/yr, you’re less likely to need the discount. But consider if you will, how long most firefighters work prior to retirement. The discount for military is extended to active as well as retirees and vets. A vet is not defined as one who retires, but one who has served. Just sayin’.
It’s really a shame that not every store offers a military discount. These people are fighting for our lives and the LEAST we can do is offer them a discount in all of our stores. I think as a country who is “so proud of our military” we should offer them more discounts. It’s the least we can do. I also think 10% is too low. This is all from someone who doesn’t even have family or anyone I know in the military so I’m not biased.
Also as an update kfc no longer does military discounts. My boyfriend works there and they did away with it
On-line Ralph Lauren Outlet were very helpful. Honored their 10% military discount online and will give you free shipping if you ask.
We thank the members of the military for their service and sacrifice. We offer them and their families a 15% discount on all purchases made on our site, which offers pet memorials, urns and caskets, as well as Irish and eco-friendly cremation urns for humans. http://www.richardlamb.com/military-discount.asp

We live 3miles from a Home depot here in Va.,and they do not give military discount, smh
You used to be able to get military discount at the register just by showing your military ID. Recently, within the last few months, home depot requires you to register at the customer service desk with your ID and then you are in a database that will allow you to get your discount nationwide. I am active duty and worked for Home Depot part time and the associate that told you no military discount is misinformed. They implemented it about 3-4 years ago after they were losing customers to Lowes due to them offering the discount.
Also, the store I worked at was also in Virginia!
Woodbridge HD over discount using the above procedures.
I live in Minnesota and have been a faithfull user of The Home Depot military discount. I was in Home Depot March 8, 2012, the first day of registering your ID card, and inquired, “Now that I’m registered, will there be a new proceedure for having the discount applied to any future purchases?” The sales person at the service desk told me no, that we were to just show our Military ID’s like we did in the past.
Turns out, this is not true. The Home Depot now sends each registered military person a one time only coupon to their e-mail about once every week or so.
Since my DIY project philosophy has always been “No DIY project is complete until the third trip to Home Depot”, I guess I’m going to use Lowes for all my new project needs.
i always ask you never know who will give the next discount. what i love the most is when you hear no we only give a discount once a year and you need to be the person in military not wife or children, and he/she must to be in uniform. classic do u need our blood type too??
Tip for shopping at Finishline: They have a much bigger selection online w/incredible sales. If you write down the product code of the shoe you want to purchase, you can take it to the store and show your military id for 20% off (this includes sale items!). Just give them your address and they will ship it to you via UPS at no additional charge. I’ve done this in GA and TX.
Denny’s in Amarillo TX does not give discount to retired military. My husband was crushed when he asked for the discount, showed his ID and was told sorry we only give the discount to Active Duty. He felt like he was slapped in the face, like his 23 years wasn’t good enough for 10% off. We will never eat there again!
I’m very sorry to hear that. It shouldn’t matter if your active or not, all military members should get the discount. Veterans/Retirees are still military members.
Some Walgreens give a 15% discount on everything but tobacco and dairy products namely the ones in Alaska. Just show your ID before they start the transaction.
Im a vietnam vet and ask for discounts, if they dont give I dont shop there anymore, simple as that, To may other patriots who do give the discount. YOu here me corporate america??
This seems like it is going to be a big deal… Do you think it may be the end to our lives? What do you predict is going to happen to everyone and everything on earth? It actually kind of scares me…
Skechers also gives a discount… 15 or 20% I believe!

For you motocrossers out there, Leatt, which makes the best neck brace offers a righteous discount of 50% to all active duty military. Have to call corporate office, but they love us and want to keep us safe with their second to none safety gear. I don’t work there, nor am I shareholder, I just believe that a company like this who puts their money where their mouth is deserves serious kudos!

Just a heads up if you are looking for a cargo carrier (hitch style) Stowaway2.com offers a 10% Discount for Military and LE Personnel (you have to call your order in to apply for the discount), also they do not charge sales tax since they are located in Oregon.
I don’t see why it really maters that if a store gives military discounts or not. I did not join the army for discounts i join because i want to serve my country and college. Yes when ever i do go to a store I do ask do they offer it and if they say no I am ok with that because my discount is knowing hat they know that the red white and blue will forever stay strong from the sacrifice that the proud members of the arm force contribute. Now we all have our opinion do not tackle some because you do not agree because it is not that serious. Have fun stay strong
I just called the Barnes and Nobles in Melbourne, FL. and they told me they do NOT give military discounts.
