Since many senior discounts are not advertised to the public, our advice to men and women over 55 is to ALWAYS ask a sales associate if that store provides a senior discount. Also, please note that some senior discounts vary by region. That way, you can be sure to get the most bang for your buck.

My husby took Lou’s report to heart & headed over to Dunkin’ Donuts (in Morton Grove,IL) and asked for a senior coffee. They gave him a cup about half the size of a regular…and charged him 30 cents less…than a regular. LOL!!!

  4. Jessica Rae says:

Bon-Ton only gives that Wednesday senior discount to seniors using a Bon-Ton credit card. Not the friendliest of approaches and, while it can lead to increased credit card enrollment (their goal, since if you have a store card, you’ll it), it’s a deal breaker to me. Of course, in this capitalist society, they’re entitled to do whatever they want.

  5. peggy griffin says:

ThanksDon for the nice list of discounts. We will use some of them. Love to Deb

  6. would love to see some discounts for tanning salons

    • Bonnie says:

“Roberta, you want tanning salon discounts? In my opinion, I wish ALL the tanning salons would get shut down. Young teenage girls are laying in those beds and don’t even realize what it’s doing by adding age to their pretty skin. Worst of all is having pre-cancerous moles frozen or cut off their faces and other body parts from fake baking. All tanning beds do is bake the skin from the inside out which causes not only damage from the harmful UVA rays that destroy the outer body but the inner body by adding 10 to 15 years of premature aging to the entire body before the age of 40! Read this on Web Md and it’s in all health magazines stressing why tanning beds cause premature skin aging and skin cancer and to use facial and body cosmetics that contain high SPF skin factors. I’m telling you and all who read this reply because since the age of 40, I’ve been going to doctors and skin cancer specialists for 21 years to have pre-cancerous moles removed from my face, chest, arms, back and legs, the smaller moles were frozen or burnt off, the larger moles were cut out at the hospital then sent out for exam at a cancer lab to check if the mole or in my case many moles were benign or malignant. These invasive treatments do cause permanent scars. All this damage was caused by me going and laying in the tanning beds or laying out at the pool in the hot sun unprotected since I was 15 years old.I only wish now what would have happened to me but it’s too late. If my reply only saves one person to stay out of those tanning beds and the hot sun, use lots of SPF and not have to go through what I have and still do to this day, then my reply to you will be worth it”

    • jackie says:

The Krogers in Columbia SC offers seniors (55+) 5% off every wednesday. it’s also on their website

    • Barbwire54 says:

I have received the senior discount at Kroger’s. In one case it was automatically deducted and was listed on the receipt. At the store I visit regularly you must take your receipt to customer service and they give you the refund.

    • Mary says:

I just called my Kroger and it’s the first Wednesday of every month 10% off 60+.

    • I’m 71 and have shopped at Krogers in Houston TX and Katy TX and have received a 10% senior discount on Kroger-brand products since I was 55. Maybe Be doesn’t realize that employee discount and senior discount are the same?? Here in Texas we get a Kroger card when we turn 55 and the cashier scans it when we check out.

  13. Wanda says:

Kroger, Savannah gives 5 percent on Wednesday

  19. Russell Call says:

I will never shop at Smith’s again, I will not carry a card to buy my food again. They always over charge my bill. There in one checker who is very rude to me and I’m no longer willing to except this kind of treatment. Russell

  20. Madeleine says:

TJ Max offers a 10% discount every Tuesday. Marshall’s does not although they are owned by the same company. Not sure about Homegoods, they may offer a discount.

  21. Claudia says:

For Kroger , Fry’s re-register your vip card ask the clerk to note your age as a Senior.
If that does not work call the VIP number on the card. That can be corrected. If you don’t get a discount ask to speak to a manager. Sometimes employees just don’t know !
Lastly we are all using email ….send one to customer service and don’t be slow about calling with your concern. Say something speak up !
The Senior days discount is built into the register system.
