Amazon's second Prime Day sale, Prime Big Deal Days, is slated for October, exclusively for Prime members. While details are limited, we expect it to be around the same time as their Prime Early Access Sale last year, held on October 11-12. In anticipation of Amazon’s upcoming members-only sale, let's delve into ways to maximize your membership.

Amazon’s Second Prime Day is October 10-11: How to Get Ready

Let’s face it, an Amazon Prime membership isn’t cheap. At $14.99 a month (or $139 annually), you need to use it on the regular to make it worth it. We asked our deal experts what they use their Prime memberships for, and have compiled a list of suggestions below. Note, if you are a student, you can get Prime for $69! Whether you're a Prime member or considering joining, here are some of our editors’ favorite Amazon Prime deals and ways to get the most out of your membership.

Julie’s Prime Pick: Rugs

Our Assistant Managing Editor, Julie, loves to buy rugs from Amazon. With three kids and a revolving door of pets, she loves to refresh her home without breaking the bank. Amazon offers a great variety of rug brands, sizes, and price points. And you can usually find options for up to 70% off!

Jason’s Prime Pick: Home Essentials

Looking for brand-name home essentials? Staff Editor Jason buys a lot of his disposable home goods at Amazon. Kleenex tissues, Cottonelle toilet paper, and Mrs. Meyer’s Soap refills are all usually the lowest price on the web with free shipping. He also uses the Subscribe & Save option to save an additional 5-10% off many items, and get refills without thinking about it.

Melissa’s Prime Pick: Stock Up Stress-Free

Another mom of three, our Deputy Editor Melissa will occasionally fill her cart with unnecessary items at some stores just to avoid shipping fees. With Prime, she doesn’t have to worry about that. She especially loves to stock up on cleaning supplies and toiletry items. And all three of her daughters are fans of CeraVe, so she also recommends using Subscribe & Save so they never run out!

Lindsay’s Prime Pick: Prime Reading

As an avid reader, I love Prime reading for books and magazines. I am also trying to foster my kids’ love for reading with their own Kindles. For an additional fee, I also use Kindle Unlimited to get even more content for the entire family.
