We’ve been digging into what Prime Day details Amazon released June 16. Our team has researched this event for the past six years and has a pretty good idea of what to expect. See our Prime Day predictions based on prior-year sales, early deal announcements, and Amazon’s latest press release.
Note that at the time of posting this article, the availability of Prime Day deals was accurate, but due to high shopping behaviors during this event, this can and will change often. We’ll do our best to keep you up to date.
Our Top Predictions—Shop or Skip?

Shop: $10 Amazon Credit
Our managing editor Casey has been through every Prime Day since its inception in 2015. Her favorite deal every year is the $10 credit from Amazon. In prior years, it’s been $10 with a $40 gift card purchase, but this year Prime members can get a $10 credit by completing four Prime, perk-based tasks. Learn more about this $10 credit.
Skip: Low Savings and Light Discounts
Many Prime Day sales will tout “Up to 75% off!” popular brands, but the discount at checkout will actually be under 10%. Casey urges you to avoid these deals. You can find deeper discounts elsewhere throughout the year and shouldn’t be fooled by poor discounts just because it’s Prime Day. sale is a waste of your hard-earned money.
Electronics
Shop: Amazon Fire TV 55” Omni Series 4K UHD Smart TV
This was the only TV that our tech experts, Mike and David, highlighted as a notable deal. At $299.99, this is definitely the lowest price we’ve seen on this TV from Amazon’s premier brand.
When comparing this deal to higher-end brands, it’s still middle-of-the-pack, according to Mike. Neither of them loved the 60Hz refresh rate, but the price is low enough to still consider it a great deal.
Skip: Other Second or Third Tier Electronics Brands
Mike and David went through the rest of Amazon’s list for early Prime Day TV deals and weren’t so impressed. These deals are similar to Black Friday deals in the sense that you’re getting a bargain for second-tier brands like Insignia, Toshiba, and Pioneer. You definitely won’t be getting any bells and whistles with these TV deals, but you will be getting a really low price.
Home Essentials
Shop: Roomba Vacuums
Another favorite from our experts are deals on vacuum cleaners. Our Amazon authority, Marisa, noticed that many of the current Roomba vacuums on Amazon are limited in stock. This could mean they have a big Roomba deal coming for Prime Day.
Lindsay, another Amazon aficionado and deputy editor, noted we also see deals on Shark vacuums during Prime Day. So if you’ve been looking for a deal on a Shark vacuum, Prime Day is a good time to check and we’ll share the best ones!
Skip: Kitchen and Dining Deals
Prime Day deals on small kitchen appliances, cookware, and gadgets have always been light. We see better deals during Black Friday sales. So if you’re in the market for a new KitchenAid mixer or dinnerware set, we recommend that you wait.

Groceries
Shop: Snacks and Beverages
Marisa has seen aggressive discounts on snack foods in previous Prime Days. With back to school coming up quickly, shop for things like granola bars, chips, and beverages for some discounts that beat even Costco or Sam’s Club prices.
Skip: New Brands and Flavors
The best discounts on snacks and beverages are going to be on bulk purchases. Now might not be the best time to buy things your family might not like…just because it’s on sale. Go with what you know and stock up on all your favorites for that coveted pantry space.
Shop Smarter on Prime Day with Brad’s Deals
As with any other sales, we urge you to not buy into the hype of Prime Day. While we do see some great Prime Day deals that we’ll share, we never encourage you to shop just to shop. Look for deals on things you need or have been holding off on for a lower price.
