Help us provide vital supplies to victims of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in the U.S. Virgin Islands

A Letter from Brad in the U.S. Virgin Islands
In the span of just twelve days this summer, the U.S. Virgin Islands were hit by Hurricanes Irma and Maria – two Category 5 storms that devastated the land, infrastructure, and lives of more than 100,000 American citizens who are often overlooked since they live in a territory rather than a state.
As a part of the communities that have been affected by Hurricanes Maria and Irma, we see it as our responsibility to help. Many of our friends there have lost nearly everything. I saw the destruction firsthand when I took relief supplies to the islands after Hurricane Irma and again after Hurricane Maria. The recovery effort will take years.
When you give to Brad’s Deals Cares, 100% of proceeds will be applied to hurricane relief and recovery efforts in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Additionally, Brad’s Deals will match all donations up to $250,000. Stay tuned for updates on how your donations are being put to use.
With your donation, we can continue supporting the rebuilding process by providing vital supplies every step of the way in the months and years to come. Thank you for your support.

About Brad's Deals Cares
Brad’s Deals Cares was founded in September 2017 in response to the devastation from Hurricanes Irma and Maria to provide vital relief supplies to hurricane victims and recovery teams in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The success of Brad’s Deals lies in our unique ability to find and negotiate great deals. With Brad’s Deals Cares, we’re putting our retail relationships and shopping savvy to work helping the U.S. Virgin Islands to recover and rebuild.
Leveraging both retailer partners and V.I. contacts, Brad’s Deals Cares is uniquely positioned to respond quickly as conditions change, ensuring island residents are getting the right supplies at the right time.
About Hurricanes Irma and Maria
Hurricane Irma hit the U.S. Virgin Islands as a Category 5 storm, the strongest hurricane rating, on Wednesday September 6, 2017. The islands of St. Thomas and St. John took the brunt of the damage. Lush tropical forests were stripped bare, homes and vital infrastructure like electricity and communications were destroyed along with countless cars and boats. Storm damage also rendered Cyril E. King International Airport and most sea ports unusable.
Just twelve days later on September 18, Hurricane Maria slammed into St. Croix, also as a Category 5 storm. While St. Croix had been largely spared by Hurricane Irma, it took an almost direct hit from Maria and subsequently suffered much of the same kind of damage Irma had caused in St. Thomas and St. John. Meanwhile, those islands endured hurricane winds that further damaged already weakened structures, and rain resulting in catastrophic flooding.
How will my donation be used?
Every cent that you donate is used to purchase the supplies that hurricane recovery teams need to do their work. Our team is in constant communication with contacts and friends on the ground in the U.S. Virgin Islands who give us real-time updates about what their needs are at any given moment.
For example, one of the first projects we worked on was the effort to reopen the V.I. Montessori School, providing chainsaws to clear debris and generators for backup power. It was an important milestone for the community since it provided a safe and familiar space to children, giving them a small sense of normalcy while freeing their parents up to help with the broader recovery effort.
We’ve also provided basics including but not limited to food, water, diapers, tampons, batteries, tents, plywood, and medicine, and expect that list will expand as supply needs shift over the coming weeks and months.
How much of my donation will go towards hurricane relief efforts?
Brad’s Deals covers most administration fees from donations. Our credit card processor takes a small transaction fee of less than 3%, and we’re working on reducing that cost as well. After that, 100% of every gift is used to purchase supplies that go directly to the V.I. residents and hurricane recovery teams who need them.
Will Brad’s Deals match my donation?
Yes! We’re matching donations up to the first $250,000. Please give generously, and we’ll double your donation.
Can I contribute supplies instead of cash?
Yes. We’ve got an Amazon Wishlist that we’re maintaining as needs arise. Currently the list includes essential items like extension cords, first aid supplies, non-perishable food, sunscreen, garbage bags, insect repellent and bug zappers, paper towels, Gatorade, tampons, batteries, and diapers in all sizes.
When you buy from the list, select “Brad’s Deals Cares Foundation Gift Registry Address” as your shipping address, and we’ll make sure your donation gets to those who need them most.
Can I send a check or supplies instead of donating online?
Yes. You can send both checks and supplies directly to St. Thomas at our mailing address below. All checks should be payable to “Brad’s Deals Cares Foundation.”
